{"id":102,"date":"2016-01-03T13:52:15","date_gmt":"2016-01-03T13:52:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/infinity-press.com\/wp\/?p=102"},"modified":"2016-01-03T13:56:48","modified_gmt":"2016-01-03T13:56:48","slug":"a-big-bag-of-heaven-just-arrived","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/infinity-press.com\/wp\/?p=102","title":{"rendered":"A big bag of heaven just arrived."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/infinity-press.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/rootbeerbarrels.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-103\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-103 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/infinity-press.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/rootbeerbarrels-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"rootbeerbarrels\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/infinity-press.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/rootbeerbarrels-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/infinity-press.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/rootbeerbarrels-768x513.jpg 768w, https:\/\/infinity-press.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/rootbeerbarrels-1024x683.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>When living abroad, you realize that while we fundamentally all eat and drink, there are serious global deficits.\u00a0 For example, one would think something as delicious as root beer would be revered around the world.\u00a0 In fact, it is not.\u00a0 Not only is it not loved and very difficult to find, Europeans and Brits* often actively <em>dislike<\/em> root beer.\u00a0 The usual response is &#8220;It tastes like mouthwash&#8221; or &#8220;It tastes like medicine&#8221; leaving me to wonder what genius flavors European medicines.\u00a0 So when our friend visited, he brought me the next best thing: A big bag of root beer barrels to give me that root beer fix when needed.<\/p>\n<p>Other things lacking?\u00a0 Triscuits, Wheat Thins, Jiffy Corn Muffin Mix**, tortilla chips that don&#8217;t taste stale when fresh out of the bag, Mexican food in general, chewy browny mix***, proper chocolate chips, proper marshmallows, Gram Crackers, and proper hamburgers.<\/p>\n<p>Don&#8217;t get me wrong, there are amazing things to eat and drink over here.\u00a0 In Sweden, you&#8217;ll find Gl\u00f6gg at the holidays, which is a delicious spiced wine.\u00a0 And hot smoked salmon.\u00a0 And Marabou chocolate with Daim.\u00a0 And not Cheetos brand cheetos which are way better than Cheetos.\u00a0 The UK had amazing yogurt.\u00a0 (No, I don&#8217;t know what they do different, but I suspect they add extra cream.)\u00a0 And Percy Pigs, an inexplicably good pig-head-shaped candy from one of their big, upscale grocery chains.\u00a0 And Tracklements Chilli Jam.
